Spiralling Growth of the Divine Names
This Painting embodies the 99 attributes of Allah including the name Allah. This study is inspired by the idea that the attributes of Allah are manifest in the whole of creation. The Divine names are embodied inside a pentagonal spiral with each name filling in each section. There are 20 pentagons, each encompassing the other to fit the 99 Divine names plus Allah. I chose the pentagonal shape because of the prevalence of the number five in growth in nature. Starting with floral growth and the golden spiral, I experimented with a few designs before arriving at my final design of the Divine names enclosed in Pentagonal Spirals, mimicking the growth of many plants and flowers. Metaphorically speaking, spiralling growth in nature and its adherence to the universal laws of proportioning can be symbolised by the flowering of our consciousness. And what better way to arrive to this than through the remembrance of the names of the Divine creator.
